180 pounds to Mr Olympia in 18 weeks

Kevin Levrone believes he can do it.

Tonight on www.Probodybuildingweekly.com, Levrone made it clear that he is considering aother run at the Mr Olympia. He explained that during his competitve years, he would regularly drop to 180 in the offseason, the blow up to 240 to 260 for the show, in about 3 months.

I guess we can chalk this up to good genetics and good gear. Levrone once admitted that precontest, his fridge only contained 3 things: Protein powder, Alfalfa, and, well, you know that magic third ingredient ;)

While it's unlikely Kevin will compete at the 2007 Mr Olympia due to movie work, the thought of a fresh Kevin returning in 2008 is an intriguing one!

Local bowlers are using steroids now!

SAULT STE. MARIE - It was just a matter of time before the nationwide steroid scandal hit home for Sault Ste. Marie residents, but most people probably thought it would be a football issue.

As it turns out steroids are all over the alleys - the bowling alleys, that is.
A state record number of 300 games at the DonDee Lanes over the past few years has apparently grabbed the attention of bowling's governing body, the United States Bowling Congress (USBC).

“Bowling a 300 game is a very difficult feat and it's not something that should be happening every single year,” said USBC representative Doug Donaldson. “The number of perfect games being rolled in that alley certainly demands a certain amount of attention.”
The attention it got though was not the kind the DonDee was hoping for. A small task force from the USBC showed up on one of the alley's many league nights recently and demanded that a number of bowlers take a drug test using the usually reliable urine sample.

“It was embarrassing,” said one bowler from the Big Ballers team who agreed to speak on the condition of anonymity. “One minute you're drinking a beer and knocking down pins, and the next minute, you're peeing in a cup with a guy in a $500 dollar suit standing six inches away.”
When the dust settled, over 50 bowlers had been subjected to the cup and the results were startling.

Just over half of those tested showed positive for steroids, including a dozen bowlers that rolled perfect games on record at the DonDee.

No names have been released by the USBC, so which perfect games are bogus is anybody's guess.

One roller, who simply referred to himself as “Bob,” said that the effect that steroids has on a bowler can be profound.

“It can make all the difference in the world,” he said. “Your wrists are stronger and you can generate a lot more spin on the ball. You can also bowl longer without feeling fatigued, and that makes a huge difference when you're facing that final frame with a chance for 300. Instead of feeling tired, you're almost as fresh as you were in the first frame.”

Mr Olympia Jay Cutler... he's in a suing mood!

LOS ANGELES — A judge ordered a trial in champion bodybuilder Jay Cutler's lawsuit claiming a nutritional supplement company used his image without permission.Cutler filed a Superior Court suit on July 6, 2006, against Omaha, Neb.-based NDS Nutritional Products Inc. alleging misappropriation of image and likeness, invasion of privacy and unjust enrichment.Superior Court Judge Paul Gutman on Tuesday denied a defense motion alleging Cutler wasn't the image depicted and the case was ordered for trial. A trial date wasn't set.Cutler, 33, of Las Vegas is the reigning Mr. Olympia.The lawsuit alleged NDS used an image of a photograph of Cutler taken at a bodybuilding contest and placed it on its products without paying him or getting his permission.NDS attorney Michael M. Molinaro claimed the image wasn't Cutler."It's not Mr. Cutler, it's a computer-created image of a fanciful person who resembles no person on earth," Molinaro said.The suit said the image was indisputably Cutler, who has granted a license to use his image to a number of bodybuilding-related companies.The judge dismissed a fraud claim filed by Cutler attorney Roger Y. Muse and the judge denied a motion seeking punitive damages, although Muse was told he could amend the complaint, Muse said.Cutler has won three consecutive Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic contests and he placed second for three consecutive years in the Mr. Olympia competition before winning the title last year, the lawsuit states.

The 225-pound rep Bench Press... can you own QB Brady Quinn?

I was looking at some stats and apparantly he pressed 225 24 times. Thats pretty good considering 24 was the average reps for linemen.

So it got me thinking. Can I bench more than Brady Quinn? Can you?

He's a world class athlete who has lived in the weight room his senior year... I expected more than just 24 reps, wouldn't you?

I dunno... share your thought. Can you do more than 24 reps with 225 pounds, and shouldn't an NFL QB be stronger than that?

Chris Cormier & Jerome Ferguson make MTV Spring Break

The PDI is ready to take on the IFBB, finally...

Lee Priest is on the attack. And he is holding nothing back.

The P.D.I. (Pro Division Inc) is a new bodybuilding federation intent on toppling the great IFBB. Already they have Lee Priest and a few other great names, including Sami Al-Haddad. Last year they did 2 shows with moderate success.

This year, it's eight shows. Three IFBB pros are rumored to be jumping - and longtime great Chris Cormier is the most likely. Also possible is Gunter Schlierkamp - a great smile and top 10 Olympia physique.

Lee Priest has been all over the board this week - attacking Shawn Ray on the Upcoming Colorado Pro show - saying it will be cancelled. He's also goading longtime enemy Bob Chic on his standard "IFBB puppet" role. And, he's inviting all IFBB pros to jump to the PDI.

This is going to be good.

When Phil Heath arrived at the 2007 Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic, he was the most valuable name in bodybuilding. He was The Gift. When he left on Sunday? Phil Hype.

Phil's value - to the sport, to his own bottom line, and to his supplement company - took a big hit when he got 5th at the Arnold Classic, a show that everyone believed he would win.

Heath was exposed. And in a game of hype, exposure is a dagger to the heart.

The young man took 1st at his first show, and his dad (IFBB Pro Darrem Charles) was there to hand him the trophy. Pics of this kid 2-3 years ago, he was as skinny as can be. Today, his calves and shoulders are already top NPC level from genetics alone.
